Creative Impact

Linda Kwon is a graphic designer and UIUC Alum, this is a photo from her "Invisibility" series of photographic prints.

[above] Linda Kwon is a graphic designer and UIUC Alum. She works with the Asian American Artists Collective and the APA literary art journal Monsoon. She is also a part of the Korean drumming group, Gah-Rahk-Mah-Dahng. "I've found that art is one thing that can transcend many boundaries that traditional methods of outreach cannot. Someone who may not be receptive to a march, rally or lecture on racial politics and social inequity may be interested in the arts. It is in that artwork, poetry, music, drama or dance where you can reach people by incorporating political themes." Above is a photo from her "Invisibility" series of photographic prints. This piece touches on themes of mainstream social, political, and ethnic assimiliation relevant to the Asian American Community as well as to various American communities.
